Job opening for a non-tenured, fixed-term assistant professor

The Graduate School of Economics at Hitotsubashi University invites applications for a non-tenured assistant professor position beginning April, 2021. The assistant professor's research field should be macroeconomics or its related field.

3.Job description (1) Teaching obligation
Two courses per academic year, 4 credits each, either at the undergraduate or the graduate level.

(Note) The assistant professor is expected to teach two courses of "Introductory Macroeconomics" at the undergraduate level. One course consists of two classes per week, 13 weeks, which means 26 classes in total. One class is 105 minutes long. One of the courses will be offered in the Spring/Summer Term, and the other will be given during the Fall/Winter Term. Main target of the course is the second year undergraduate students at the Department of Economics (the level of the course is similar to that of "Intermediate" Macroeconomics in the US).

(2) Administrative functions
Shared responsibility for committee membership, entrance examinations, and other administrative functions may be assigned.
4.Qualifications (1) Candidate must have completed his/her Ph.D. or complete it within three months after the time of appointment.
(2) Candidate must have the ability to give lectures in Japanese.
5.Job type Non-tenured assistant professor. The term of the contract is three years. The contract term cannot be extended or renewed.

(2) A list of academic works (please specify peer-reviewed publications).
(3) At least two letters of recommendation (written in English or in Japanese) from referees familiar with the applicantʼs academic skills and/or teaching experiences. Reference letters for a candidate without Ph.D. degree should explain the state of his/her Ph.D. thesis to show that the candidate will complete the Ph.D. within three months after the time of appointment.
(4) Certificate of Ph.D. degree, if applicable.
(5) Copies of academic works (maximum three works).
